Music Educators Association of New Jersey
Welcome to the home page of the Music Educators Association of New Jersey!
The Music Educators Association of New Jersey is a statewide, non-profit organization founded in 1927.
Our mission is to elevate the standards of private music teaching in the state of New Jersey. To help achieve this, we provide musical development for all students through activities such as auditions, competitions, recitals, scholarships, and master classes given by artist teachers. Continuing education in music and life-long learning are promoted through monthly lectures/recitals for all MEA members and guests.
Message From The President
Welcome back! I hope you all had an enjoyable and restful summer, and are ready to get back into the swing of things.
We have a new photo release form policy that will allow us to print pictures of students in newspapers, The Glissando, and on our website. This is a chance for publicity for your students, your studio, and the MEA. Please be sure to use it for every performance event.
The MEA would like to increase the scholarships that it offers to students. In order to do this, we need to increase the amount of money in our scholarship fund. We will have scholarship contribution envelopes available at all public events (honors recitals, student recitals, etc.). Please make your students' families aware of this, and let them know that their tax-deductible contribution will help advance the study of music.
As you know, we have many volunteers who serve on the MEA Board as committee chairs. While their names are listed in the Directory and The Glissando, the committee members are often left unsung. They give generously of their time and talents, and we are very grateful. With that in mind, I would like to thank the following MEA members who served on committees in 2007-08:
- Auditions Committee: Joan Bujajich, Irene Hakim, Marcia Maull, Gloria Weisberg
- Competition Committee: Ana Berschadsky, Gloria Chu, Rebecca Eng, Ruth Kotik, Michelle Kuo, Betty Rosenblum, Yuly Verbitsky
- Honors Recital Committee: Chiaki Morimoto
- Nominating Committee: Gloria Chu, Marlene Lippman, Ruth Pasquariello, Thelma Wasserman
- Program Committee: Ana Berschadsky, Victoria Griswold, Tomoko Harada, Clarisse Kant, Ruth Kotik, Beverly Thomson Shea
Again, thanks to all these wonderful people, and if you would like to join their ranks, please contact any Board member.
- Barbara Landi Hause, President
