College Scholarships

Student must have been a pupil of an MEA member in good standing for at least one year.

Student must be a high school senior accepted as a music major at a university, college or conservatory.

Student must have completed THREE YEARS in ANY or ALL of the following MEA activities during the prior 3 years and provide copies:

Auditions:
Ratings must be Superior or more in the Senior Grade or higher
Competitions:
Ratings must be Honorable mention or higher from age 13 or above
Honors Recital:
Must have been selected to perform at age 13 or above

Two letters of recommendation are required: one from the applicant’s piano teacher and one from the guidance counselor.

An estimate of the projected college costs must be submitted.

Student must submit records of first semester grades as a music major at the university, college, or conservatory.

In the event of extenuating circumstances, the Board may make an exception to the above requirements. This would be decided on a case-by-case basis.

The amount of the scholarship will be $1000-$2000, to be determined by the Board. A maximum of three scholarships will be awarded per year. This will also be at the discretion of the Board. The money will be sent directly to the university, college, or conservatory the student has selected upon receipt of the first semester grades.
